Barcelona defender nearing a return after 2 months on the sidelines

Barcelona’s recent injury woes have been no secret to anyone following Hansi Flick’s side. And they don’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon, with five players currently on their injury list.

The Catalan side are getting close to one defender’s imminent return however, as Diario Sport are reporting that 28-year-old Andreas Christensen is getting close to a return to action.

The Danish defender played through the pain of his Achilles injury for quite some time, even playing 26 minutes of Barcelona’s season opener against Valencia.

The pain caught up with the centre-back however and he finally took a step aside in order to undergo treatment and allow new signing Dani Olmo to be registered in the squad.

With news now emerging that Christensen could be nearing a return to training, it will be interesting to see how Barcelona navigate the tight salary restrictions that come with the Dane’s return.

Reports indicate that the club are doing well at balancing the books, hopefully meaning that Christensen should be able to be registered by the club without issues when the time comes.
