Barcelona dealt sudden transfer blow

La Liga giants Barcelona have this week been dealt something of a blow on the transfer front.

This comes amid confirmation that Premier League champions Liverpool have no intention of parting with Luis Díaz over the months ahead.

Wide-man Díaz has of course seen his name take its place centre stage in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital over the last couple of weeks.

This comes amid the widespread understanding that the Colombian has been identified as the no.1 summer transfer target on the part of La Liga champions Barcelona.

Amid an ongoing search for reinforcements in the final third, the Blaugrana have identified the former Porto man as the ideal profile.

Safe to say, then, that the latest word stemming from the English media on Wednesday will mark a major source of concern for those behind the scenes at the Camp Nou.

As per a report from the reliable Paul Joyce of The Times, despite rumours of interest from both Barcelona and the Saudi Pro League, Liverpool do not intend to allow Díaz to depart.

Despite claims that the Colombian’s departure could be required to raise funds for the signing of Florian Wirtz, the Reds are ready to stand firm, to keep hold of a key member of Arne Slot’s squad for next season.
