Barcelona dealt heavy blow in efforts to break jersey partnership with Nike

A fresh update on the ongoing efforts of La Liga giants Barcelona to break away from kit manufacturer Nike has been forthcoming this week.

And the news is of a less than positive nature for the Catalan club.

The subject of the strained relations between Barcelona and American sportswear company Nike has of course taken its place front and centre in the Spanish media headlines for several weeks now.

This comes after the Blaugrana made public their decision to terminate their ten-year agreement with the corporation, owing to alleged breaches of contract relating to delayed payments.

Nike, however, refused to accept as much without a fight, taking the legal route in judicially requesting cautionary measures against Barcelona.

And, as per a report from Relevo, the American production giant has won out:

‘The non-compliance alleged by the club does not enable them to break the contract,’ it is confirmed.

The commitment between the parties therefore remains valid and intact, meaning Nike, as things stand, will continue to act as Barcelona’s official kit manufacturer all the way through 2028.
