Barcelona could miss out on key free agent target in January window

La Liga giants Barcelona could find themselves pipped to the post by Juventus, in the race for Bayer Leverkusen star Jonathan Tah.

That’s according to Diario Sport, citing Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport, who have on Friday provided an insight into the situation.

The name of defender Tah has of course long proven a prominent one in the headlines in Barcelona.

This comes after the Blaugrana saw a late-window approach for the German international rebuffed by their counterparts at the aforementioned Bayer Leverkusen.

The interest of the Camp Nou brass, though, remains strong, ahead of the expiration of Tah’s terms at the BayArena in the summer of 2025.

Safe to say, then, that the latest word stemming from Italy will no doubt mark a source of concern for Deco and co.

This comes amid the understanding that Juventus are preparing to beat out the competition for the stopper’s signature, courtesy of a January proposal for his signature.

The Bianconeri recently lost star defender Gleison Bremer to a serious knee injury, on the lookout for reinforcements at the back this winter as a result.

And Tah, it is understood, has made his way to the very top of the wishlist of boss Thiago Motta.

Juve, in turn, are giving serious consideration to a mid-season offer for Tah, to ensure that the 28-year-old never reaches the free agent market.
