La Liga champions Barcelona have identified a member of the midfield ranks at Catalan rivals Girona as a potential signing for the weeks ahead.
That’s according to El Chiringuito TV, who highlight Azzedine Ounahi as the player in question.
Midfielder Ounahi is widely expected to be on the move before the summer is out. Fresh off playing a starring role for Morocco at the World Cup, the 26-year-old is considered far too talented to be plying his trade in Spanish football’s 2nd tier in 2026/27.
A number of clubs from across the continent, in turn, have been credited with an interest in Ounahi over recent weeks. And as alluded to above, on Saturday, none other than Barcelona have been added to this list.
As per a report from El Chiringuito TV, after Frenkie de Jong was ruled out long-term with a knee injury:
‘Barça are considering the option of Ounahi due to Frenkie de Jong’s injury. The Girona player is of interest to several teams, but he has not yet made a decision about his future.’
