Barcelona consider leaving Frenkie de Jong out of US tour

FC Barcelona are considering leaving Frenkie de Jong out of the club’s pre-season tour of the United States, according to Sport.

With this drastic measure, the club want to send a clear message to the Dutch midfielder.

Barca need De Jong to agree to a transfer to Manchester United in order to be able to sign Sergi Roberto and the first two signings of the summer, Franck Kessié and Andreas Christensen.

Over the coming years, De Jong’s wage bill will skyrocket and his departure would free up almost €30 million.

Manchester United and Barcelona have an agreement in place for €85m including add-ons.

De Jong wants to stay at the La Liga side, although Barca have already told the player he needs to leave this summer.
