La Liga champions Barcelona are weighing up a potential offer for a member of the defensive ranks at Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig over the final days of the transfer window.
That’s according to The Athletic, who highlight Castello Lukeba as the player in the sights of the Blaugrana.
Despite a spectacular 5-0 drubbing of Elche on opening day in La Liga, the brass at the Spotify Camp Nou remain on the lookout for reinforcements to Hansi Flick’s squad before the summer is out.
Two areas being closely monitored when it comes to possible arrivals are left-back, and the heart of defence. With Ronald Araújo having departed on loan, and Alejandro Balde’s future up in the air, Barca have not ruled out adding fresh blood in either area.
It should in turn come as little surprise to hear of Deco and co. keeping a close eye on one player capable of taking to the pitch in both roles. As per a report from The Athletic:
‘A player who has been monitored as a potential defensive signing is Castello Lukeba. Flick is understood to be a big admirer of the 23-year-old, although a lot still has to happen. Balde’s departure would be required before seeing real progress here, but it is one to keep an eye on.’
