Barcelona confirm signing of Dimitri Walton

La Liga giants Barcelona have this evening closed a deal for a fresh addition to the club’s youth ranks.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who have provided a fresh insight into developments behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital.

The latest player to have put pen to paper on terms with the Blaugrana? Dimitri Walton.

Walton, for his part, is a 17-year-old left-back, who was until recently plying his trade with the Escola Gavà Juvenil A team.

Amid something of a crisis at full-back in Barca’s Juvenil B squad, however, the defender was brought in as part of a trial last month.

Walton, in turn, went on to notch four appearances over the course of last couple of weeks.

And, evidently, his efforts across these outings proved enough to convince the coaching staff in Catalunya of his qualities.

Barcelona, as a result, have on Wednesday made Walton’s signing official, beating out competition from La Liga rivals Real Betis for his services.

The stopper, who possesses English roots, will now spend the remainder of the term developing with Barca’s Juvenil B squad, with the aim of making the jump to the Juvenil A next season.
