La Liga giants Barcelona are closing on the signing of an up-and-coming talent for the club’s youth ranks.
That’s according to Jijantes, who point towards Cardoso Varela as the player in question.
Varela, for his part, is a 16-year-old attacker, who generally operates on the wing.
A Portuguese youth international, the starlet currently plies his club trade with Liga Portugal heavyweights Porto, for whom he lines out at U19 level.
If the latest word stemming from the media on Monday is anything to go by, however, then Varela could soon find himself lining out in the colours of one of Spanish football’s leading clubs.
As per a report from Jijantes, Barcelona sporting director Deco today held a meeting with the winger and his agents, over the possibility of taking his talents to Catalunya’s capital.
The sit-down is understood to have gone positively, with Varela having subsequently made his way to The Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, for a tour of Barca’s training facilities.
A Blaugrana transfer coming to fruition for the Porto talent, in turn, is considered as being ‘close’.
