Barcelona chief drops fresh Xavi future hint

The latest comments on the part of Barcelona president Joan Laporta have turned heads across Spain on Monday evening.

This comes after the Spanish patron dropped a fresh hint regarding the future of head coach Xavi.

As things stand, Xavi is of course primed to bring a close to his association with Barcelona this coming summer.

As much comes after the ex-midfielder announced back in January his decision to step down from his role upon the season coming to an end.

Since, however, the Blaugrana have enjoyed an altogether impressive upturn in form.

In fact, since Xavi’s announcement, Barca have not fallen to a single defeat, climbing back up to 2nd in the La Liga table, as well as being just 90 minutes away from a place in the semi-finals of the Champions League.

In turn, it has not come as a major surprise to hear of those behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital working hard to convince the club’s headmaster to reverse his decision.

Both the aforementioned Joan Laporta, and vice-president Rafa Yuste, have been unwavering in their respective public stances that Xavi is still considered the ideal candidate to lead the club into a new era.

And, as alluded to above, on Monday, the former has spoken out on the subject once again.

During an interview with Catalunya Radio in anticipation of Barcelona’s showdown with Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night, Laporta provided fresh hope of Xavi staying put:

“The situation with Xavi can change. We’ll talk again at the end of the season,” he confirmed.
