Barcelona chief Deco to have ‘absolute rule’ over summer signings, regardless of new coach

A fresh insight into ongoings behind the scenes at La Liga giants Barcelona has been forthcoming online.

The info comes courtesy of Diario Sport, and highlights the extent of the power set to be wielded by Barca sporting director Deco when it comes to the club’s plans for next season.

The report outlines that the Blaugrana’s search for a new manager, for the time being, has been put on hold.

As much comes with president Joan Laporta ready to move forward with one final push to convince Xavi to stay put, in the case of the Catalans advancing to the semi-finals of the Champions League.

All the while, however, discussions surrounding fresh additions to the club’s playing squad remain ongoing.

‘Decisions are already being made and negotiations are being opened with the aim of closing operations’ before the summer transfer window even opens, it is assured.

Deco is already making a concerted push towards new deals for both João Félix and João Cancelo, with the aim having been set out to wrap up an agreement for a new deep-lying midfield signing over the coming weeks, too.

With all of this developing without any real knowledge of who is set to take their place in the dugout at the Camp Nou next season, it is therefore concluded that:

‘Deco will rule absolutely in terms of signings and departures for next season regardless of the coach there is’.
