Barcelona chief confirms talks to extend contracts of 3 players

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has confirmed that the club are actively working to tie three members of the clubโ€™s first-team squad down to new contracts.

The trio in question? Pedri, Ronald Araรบjo, and Frenkie de Jong.

All of midfield pair Pedri and De Jong, and defender Araรบjo, are due to see their current terms in Catalunyaโ€™s capital expire in 2026.

This means that, should any of the three not be locked down to fresh terms by next summer, they will head into the final 12 months of their respective deals, and towards a potential free agent exit.

Those in a position of power at the Camp Nou are understandably keen to avoid such an outcome, with Joan Laporta, this week, having therefore confirmed that contract talks have been opened with the representatives of the trio:

โ€œWe are working on Araรบjo, De Jong and Pedriโ€™s new contracts.โ€

When drawn on the future of wide-man Raphinha, meanwhile, Laporta added:

โ€œRaphinhaโ€™s deal expires in 2027.โ€
