Barcelona boss Xavi was adamant that Lucas Vázquez dived for Real Madrid penalty

Barcelona head coach Xavi was not shy in making clear his feelings regarding the penalty awarded to Real Madrid on Sunday night.

Barca and Real, of course, are currently locked in action in the latest edition of El Clásico.

Midway though the 2nd-half of proceedings, the scoreline stands at a goal apiece, after Andreas Christensen’s early opener was swiftly cancelled out from the penalty spot by Vinícius Jr.

En route to as much, however, many were quick to suggest that hosts Real were afforded a major slice of luck.

Upon going to ground in the Barcelona penalty area, on initial viewing, it appeared as though Lucas Vázquez had been taken out by Pau Cubarsí.

Replays of the incident, though, highlighted the fact that Vázquez initiated much of the contact himself.

And one individual adamant that this meant a penalty should not have been awarded comes in the form of the aforementioned Xavi.

As showcased in the photo below, Barcelona’s headmaster was seen gesturing towards the referee that Vázquez was responsible for a clear dive:
