Barcelona head coach Xavi Hernández has provided his take on the recent media speculation linking Ilkay Gündoğan with a move to Saudi Arabia.
Midfielder Gündoğan, of course, only made the move to Camp Nou this past summer, after allowing his contract with treble winners Manchester City to expire.
The German international has since gone on to play a central role in the Barcelona XI, racking up 17 appearances, and notching six goal contributions along the way.
In turn, it came as something of a surprise when, over the course of the last week, rumours began to crop up, that Gündoğan could be on the move once more as soon as January.
After he was first tipped to take his talents to Turkey, media reports on Friday then pointed towards the 33-year-old himself seeking out a transfer to the Saudi Pro League.
Speaking in a press conference this afternoon, the aforementioned Xavi was therefore asked for his take on the situation.
And the Blaugrana boss went on to reveal his bemusement, confirming that Gündoğan is currently house-hunting in Barcelona:
“Really? They said that? Wow. Gündogan is looking for a house here in Barcelona…”
Xavi then cheekily added: ‘𝘚𝘩𝘶𝘬𝘳𝘢𝘯’ (the Arabic word for thank you).
