Barcelona boss Xavi critical of Robert Lewandowski after display vs Osasuna

Barcelona head coach Xavi Hernández has moved to lay down something of a challenge to star frontman Robert Lewandowski.

This comes after the Polish international, once more, failed to silence his doubters.

Barca marked their return to action a short time ago, welcoming Osasuna to Catalunya, in desperate need of a return to winning ways.

And, when all was said and done, this is precisely what the Blaugrana managed.

A solitary goal proved enough to put 10-man Osasuna to the sword, netted by substitute Vitor Roque just beyond the hour mark.

Whilst his young teammate was busy stealing the headlines, however, the aforementioned Lewandowski was in the midst of another underwhelming display.

Former Bayern Munich man Lewandowski has of course been the subject of heavy criticism of late, on the part of the Barcelona faithful, the media and more.

This comes as he continues to toil not only in front of goal, but also in efforts to link play in the final third.

Speaking to the media post-match on Wednesday night, the subject of Lewa’s recent woes was in turn put to manager Xavi once more.

And the soon-to-be former Blaugrana headmaster was not shy in all-but confirming that he, too, expects much more from the 35-year-old.

“I spoke a lot with Lewandowski this week,” Xavi began. “He must score more goals for us… He must be differential.”
