Barcelona boss Xavi a target for several European clubs

Barcelona head coach Xavi is in the sights of a number of clubs across Europe, with a view to next season.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who have on Friday confirmed mounting interest in the services of the Blaugrana’s outbound tactician.

Xavi, of course, is currently primed to bring a close to his stint on the bench in Catalunya’s capital this summer.

As much comes after the Spaniard, back in January, announced his intention to step down from his post a year early, in the best interest of the club.

Joan Laporta and the Barca board have since been hard at work in efforts to convince Xavi of the merits of staying put, but as things stand, a separation between the parties remains on the cards.

And, as alluded to above, keeping a close eye on developments in Barcelona at present are the boardroom figures of several clubs across the continent.

Dutch giants Ajax, for one, have set their sights on Xavi as a leading contender to take up the reins in Amsterdam with a view to next season.

The powers that be at The Johan Cruyff Arena have gone as far as to make contact with the representatives of the former midfielder.

The interest doesn’t end there, though, with it added that ‘Xavi’s entourage has also had the opportunity to open contacts with other European clubs’, too.

Xavi, for his part, has to date knocked back any such advances, fully focused on the job at hand over the season’s final weeks in Barcelona.

But, come the summer, he will certainly not be short on options…
