Barcelona and Chelsea reach agreement in principle regarding Marcos Alonso transfer

Last night Fabrizio Romano broke the news that Chelsea have accepted Barcelona’s offer to sign Marcos Alonso and are waiting for the green light to be given by La Liga regarding the registering of their players.

According to the agreement, Barcelona will pay a fee of €10 million to The Blues to secure the services of the 31-year-old.

Alonso will sign a contract with the Blaugrana until June 2024, with an option to extend it for another year.

Barcelona have been struggling to register the signings they have made so far due to financial constraints. The club are currently waiting for La Liga to give them the green light regarding the registration of their new players before continuing procedures with Alonso.

Throughout the transfer window, Barcelona have also been heavily linked with Athletic Bilbao’s Iñigo Martínez. However, based on reports from yesterday, it appears that the Catalan side will wait until January 2023 before considering to make a move for the player.
