La Liga giants Barcelona intend to promote from within in the case of Marc Casadó bringing a close to his time with the club this summer.
This comes amid a fresh round of chatter surrounding the deep-lying midfield situation in Hansi Flick’s squad.
Barcelona were dealt a potentially heavy blow on Tuesday, upon word coming to the fore that Frenkie de Jong may have suffered a serious knee injury.
This news quickly gave rise to suggestions that the aforementioned Marc Casadó, long tipped for a Camp Nou departure, could be taken off the market.
The understanding, however, is that for the right money, the 22-year-old remains available for transfer. Not only that, but the coaching staff at the Ciutat Esportiva are of the opinion that Casadó’s replacement is already amongst their ranks.
As per a report from Mundo Deportivo, after he managed a pair of first-team appearances last season, youngster Tommy Marqués would be pushed into a more prominent role moving forward.
It is also reiterated that:
‘What Barça are certain about is that they will opt for a La Masia product for the holding midfield position. They won’t be looking for a new signing.’
