Things couldn’t be looking better for Spain and Al Nassr centre-back Aymeric Laporte. Having just won the Euros with his country back in the summer, he proved he can still play at the top level despite being in the Saudi League for two seasons.
And despite being on a more than comfortable contract in Saudi Arabia, Laporte has still shown his head can be turned when he spoke to Cadena SER while with the Spanish national team.
‘Teams like Real Madrid are never looked down upon’ Laporte said as he also mentioned that his intention is to return to European football at some point.
He also downplayed criticism of his move to Saudi Arabia: ‘Being there I was able to win the European Championship, which was the most beautiful thing I have done in my life’.
54 appearances into his time at Al Nassr, people are already questioning whether Laporte could be making a move back to Europe, and given Real Madrid’s crisis in defence this would be as good a time as any.
As Laporte himself alluded, when Real Madrid calls, you pick up the phone.
