Atlético Madrid’s Rodrigo Riquelme predicts scoreline vs Barcelona: “Griezmann & Morata to score”

Atlético Madrid winger Rodrigo Riquelme has provided his prediction for the club’s upcoming showdown with Barcelona.

The headline fixture of the upcoming La Liga gameweek is of course set to play out in Catalunya late on Sunday night.

This comes as Barcelona and Atléti, separated by little more than goal difference in the Spanish top-flight table, prepare to lock horns once more.

The latter will head into proceedings with spirits high in the camp, amid a stellar stretch of 11 wins from their last 13 across all competitions.

Xavi’s Barca, on the other hand, have looked largely unconvincing of late, emerging on the right side of the result in just three of their last six.

And one man confident that such fortunes are set to carry through the upcoming weekend comes in the form of aforementioned Atlético midfielder Rodrigo Riquelme.

Speaking to Cadena Ser, as cited by Sport, ‘Roro’ was asked for his take on how he envisions proceedings playing out on Sunday night.

And the 23-year-old, who has featured in 10 of Atléti’s 13 league fixtures to date this season, was not shy in providing a precise prediction:

“There’s a desire for us to win. [I think] 2-0 [will be the result]. Antoine Griezmann and Álvaro Morata [will score].”

Riquelme also backed himself to set up one of his side’s two goals at the Estadio Lluís Companys.
