Atlético Madrid want to finalise Çağlar Söyüncü deal with Leicester City in January

Çağlar Söyüncü is close to reaching a verbal agreement with Atlético Madrid regarding a transfer next summer, reports Fabrizio Romano.

In December it was communicated that the Turkish defender is in talks with Los Colchoneros over a deal that could see him play at the Estadio Metropolitano next season.

Söyüncü’s contract with Leicester City is set to expire in June 2023 and the 26-year-old is free to sign pre-contractual agreements with other clubs.

According to the Italian journalist, Söyüncü is close to agreeing to join Atlético Madrid in June. However, the La Liga side want to discuss with The Foxes the possibility of speeding up the process and completing the transfer this month.

It is very unlikely that the Premier League outfit will let Söyüncü leave in the January transfer window unless they find a suitable replacement. Nonetheless, a sale this month would mean that they would receive a transfer fee for the services of the player who arrived to the King Power Stadium in 2018.
