Atlético Madrid to have Antoine Griezmann available for Inter Milan 2nd leg

An update on the wellbeing of Atlético Madrid star Antoine Griezmann has come to the fore on Wednesday afternoon.

And the news will no doubt come as a source of relief for all associated with the capital giants.

Frontman Griezmann has of course spent the last couple of weeks on the sidelines, owing to an ankle injury suffered in the first leg of Atlético’s Champions League Last-16 tie with Serie A table-toppers Inter Milan.

The France international was forced to sit out each of his side’s last three outings across all competitions as a result.

And it looks altogether unlikely that Griezmann will be available this weekend, either, when the Rojiblancos make the trip to the Estadio Nuevo Mirandilla for a La Liga meeting with Cádiz.

As much comes with the 32-year-old yet to return to training alongside the rest of Diego Simeone’s squad.

Should his recovery continue along its current trajectory, though, Griezmann will be at the disposal of his headmaster for next week’s crunch Champions League return meeting with Inter Milan.

That’s according to Estadio Deportivo, citing Marca, who have confirmed that, all going according to plan, Atlético’s star frontman will join Álvaro Morata in leading the line at the Wanda Metropolitano on Wednesday night.
