Atlético Madrid set to push for young star’s contract renewal, amid interest from Tottenham and Bayern Munich

When young stars start to make a name for themselves in football, you can always expect other clubs to come sniffing trying to get a good deal.

This has been the case with Atlético Madrid’s 21-year-old midfielder Pablo Barrios, who has broken into Diego Simeone’s first team over the past few seasons.

As per ElDesmarque, Atlético are keen to get Barrios a contract renewal, in order to stave off interest from the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Bayern Munich.

Barrios’ contract renewal is a top priority for the club, and they have been working at it for the past three months, but they could struggle to compete with the offers from other European clubs.

Rumours indicate that Tottenham in particular could be willing to pay up to €75 million to secure the midfielder for themselves, a figure that Atleti could possibly struggle to refuse.

This saga is definitely worth keeping an eye on, as you can expect things to be resolved one way or another by the summer at the latest.
