Atlético Madrid have their second signing ahead of the 2023-24 season, according to Relevo.
After Çağlar Söyüncü, Javi Galán will arrive at the club in exchange for €3.5m, plus add-ons, and Manu Sánchez, who played on loan at Osasuna over the last three seasons and will land at Celta to fill the gap at left-back.
Galán, 28, has played 123 games in La Liga and has been the favourite for the left-back spot at Atlético. Diego Simeone has wanted a player for the position since last summer when Renan Lodi left for Nottingham Forest late in the summer and his replacement, Sergio Reguilón, was a stopgap that did not convince the Argentine coach.
The club considered the signing of Galán as a priority for the 2023-24 season, even more so with Reinildo’s long-term injury.
In the last few days, the meetings between Celta and Atlético have intensified in order to reach an agreement, which is very close to being made official. Four days ago, the player himself confirmed his desire to move to the club.
