Atlético Madrid open to João Félix comeback as contract talks loom

Atlético Madrid will face some tough decisions regarding players out on loan at the end of the season, most notably João Félix. Despite the significant investment in the forward, he hasn’t fully integrated into Atlético’s system.

On loan at Barcelona, Diario AS describe his future as uncertain, prompting Atlético to consider his return to the club, returning him to the guidance of Diego Simeone. While some see this as unlikely, it remains a viable option.

Félix, loaned to Barcelona until the end of the season, still has five years left on his Atlético contract. At 24, he’s entering his prime but hasn’t become indispensable at Barcelona. He’s scored 10 goals (seven in LaLiga, three in the Champions League) in 41 official matches, with six assists. His market value is €30 million, and Barcelona’s decision on his future will influence Atlético’s plans.

Atlético’s €127 million investment in Félix makes his return desirable, albeit challenging given his high wages. Another loan deal is also possible, considering his prior loans at Barcelona and Chelsea. Félix’s relationship with Simeone suggests a return to Atlético may not align with his preferences, but circumstances may dictate otherwise.
