Atlético Madrid are searching for a new central midfielder. One of the options they are evaluating is Orel Mangala, according to AS.
Héctor Herrera will leave the club this summer and the 24-year-old Stuttgart midfielder is being monitored. Atlético have watched him live in matches against Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich. Club sporting director Andrea Berta has been impressed by his performances.
Mangala is a midfielder who has been playing in Stuttgart’s three-man midfield, either on the left or in the pivot position. After leaving Anderlecht, he joined Borussia Dortmund’s youth team on loan in 2016. Stuttgart signed him in 2017. He is a physically powerful player, with good dribbling ability and can drive forward from midfield.
Roberto Martínez has just made him a full international with Belgium.
His market value according to Olocip is €17.4 million. Atlético also have other midfielders in mind, including Boubacar Kamara (Marseille) and Mo Camara (Salzburg).
