Atlético Madrid spend close to €1 billion in a decade

In the last 10 seasons, Atlético Madrid have invested a total of €996 million in signing new players, according to a report in Goal España.

In the same period of time, the La Liga club have earned €932.25 million from the sale of players. The figures are, however, not official because the club does not disclose financial agreements with other clubs.

This summer the investment in the squad (€60m) far exceeds the revenue from sales (€23.7m). It should also be taken into account that, at the end of the season, Atlético could collect up to €78 million from selling players currently out on loan, including Saúl Ñíguez (Chelsea), Álvaro Morata (Juventus) and Ivo Grbic (Lille).

If they receive that money next June, they will have earned €101.7 million this season, some €41 million more than they have spent for the current campaign.
