Atlético Madrid defender José María Giménez could play against Manchester City in the Champions League on Tuesday, according to AS.
The Uruguayan centre-back was substituted in the 4-1 win over Alavés on Saturday with a muscular complaint. Atlético travel to Manchester on Monday to face City in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals.
Giménez was absent from Atlético’s training session this morning as he underwent tests to assess the extent of his injury. Atlético will wait for tomorrow’s training session, which begins at 17:30 CEST, to see if Giménez is back on time.
He has not yet been ruled out of the first leg and could still appear in the starting eleven on Tuesday as Diego Simeone’s side look to advance to the semi-finals of the Champions League.
