La Liga giants Atlético Madrid have this week been dealt an untimely blow on the personnel front.
This comes amid confirmation that captain and midfield leader Koke is set for an incoming spell on the sidelines.
Koke was for his part introduced off the bench over the weekend, as Atlético welcomed Celta Vigo to Spain’s capital for a La Liga clash.
En route to a disappointing 1-1 result for Diego Simeone’s troops, however, the veteran midfielder picked up an injury problem.
As much was confirmed by the Rojiblancos themselves on Tuesday.
As per a statement across the club’s website and social media platforms:
‘Koke ended the game last Saturday against RC Celta experiencing some discomfort. The midfielder underwent some tests following the match, and the medical tests conducted by the medical staff confirmed that the captain has suffered an injury to right leg.
‘The Rojiblanco midfielder will undergo physiotherapy session and recovery work in the gym. The evolution of his injury will then determine when he will return to action.’
As per an ensuing report on the part of Mundo Deportivo:
‘Sources consulted at the club by MD confirmed that “it is not minor”, which indicates that he will be out for at least two weeks.’
