Optimism is increasing on all sides of the equation, regarding a potential transfer agreement between La Liga rivals Barcelona, and Atlético Madrid.
That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Clément Lenglet as the player at the heart of discussions between the two clubs.
Stopper Lenglet has for his part long been deemed surplus to requirements by Barcelona, owing in large part to his massive salary for the season ahead.
To date, the Frenchman has rejected a number of approaches from the Saudi Pro League, eager to continue his playing days at the top level of the game.
And, as alluded to above, if the latest word stemming from the Spanish media is anything to go by, an opportunity for as much could yet be afforded to Lenglet, by another of La Liga’s leading clubs.
As per a report from Sport, Atlético Madrid have returned to the fray for the former Sevilla man.
The Rojiblancos are known to be on the lookout for reinforcements at centre-back, with Lenglet, though not first-choice, having been given the backing of Diego Simeone.
It is in turn concluded that:
‘The player’s high salary is always an obstacle, but the three parties are confident of being able to reach an agreement that is satisfactory for all.’
