Atlético Madrid chief speaks out on chase of Man City’s Julián Álvarez

Atlético Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has this weekend spoken publicly for the first time regarding his side’s links with Manchester City star Julián Álvarez.

The name of frontman Álvarez has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Spain’s capital over the course of recent days.

This comes after widespread reports were forthcoming in the media, pointing towards the Argentine as a leading target on the part of the aforementioned Atlético.

The Rojiblancos are known to be on the lookout for reinforcements up top with a view to next season, with Memphis Depay having moved on, and the futures of Ángel Correa and Álvaro Morata remaining up in the air.

Álvarez, fresh off another productive campaign on the books of the aforementioned Man City, is in turn understood to have been identified as a leading target on the part of the brass at the Wanda Metropolitano.

Speaking to the media on Saturday, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of as much was put to the aforementioned Enrique Cerezo.

The ensuing response laid out by Atléti’s president, however, proved less than encouraging:

“Julián Álvarez is a Manchester City player and I believe he won’t be moving from there.”
