Atlético Madrid chief and Jorge Mendes meet for João Félix talks

According to Spanish outlet Relevo, Atlético Madrid CEO, Miguel Ángel Gil Marín, and João Félix’s agent, Jorge Mendes, met earlier on Thursday in a well-known restaurant in Madrid with the possible transfer of the Portugal international as the main talking point.

Both arrived at Aarde (a famous restaurant in the city) at around 17:30 in the afternoon. The meeting was brief: approximately 45 minutes. In the last 24 hours, Manchester United have launched their first offer for the player through Mendes. It would be a simple loan deal without an option to buy until June for €4m and the full salary of the forward.

Atlético are asking for three times as much as United are offering – between €12m and €13m. United are not the only English team interested in acquiring his services. Arsenal are also keeping a close eye on the situation as he is a player that Mikel Arteta likes.

They know that the relationship between the player and Diego Simeone is broken, but they haven’t ruled out the possibility of the player staying for the rest of the season.

In recent days, aware that the player’s desire is to leave Madrid, Mendes has accelerated talks with all parties to find a solution as soon as possible. João Félix has told him time and again that he is not happy under Simeone.
