Atlético Madrid and Barcelona close in on agreement to lower Antoine Griezmann’s fee

Atlético Madrid are close to arriving at an agreement with Barcelona to reduce the fee of Antoine Griezmann, report Mundo Deportivo.

Last week it was communicated that the Blaugrana are preparing a lawsuit against Los Colchoneros as they believe that the Madrid-based side have broken the agreement over the transfer of Griezmann.

While Barça believe that Atléti are liable to pay €40m if the Frenchman makes an appearance in 50% of the games he is fit to play in, Atlético Madrid argue that they only need to pay the fee if he plays 50% of the minutes he is available for.

In order to not pay the sum demanded by Barcelona, Diego Simeone hasn’t played the 31-year-old more than 30 minutes in each of the club’s matches.

The two sides were forced to enter talks in order to overcome the situation and according to reports Barcelona and Atlético Madrid are close to reaching an agreement that would see the fee be reduced to €25m.
