Atlético Madrid add ex-Man United star to midfield wishlist

The powers that be at La Liga giants Atlético Madrid have identified a new leading candidate to reinforce the club’s midfield ranks.

That’s according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, who points towards Sofyan Amrabat as the player in question.

It is of course common knowledge that the brass at the Wanda Metropolitano are seeking out one more signing, ahead of the close of what has been a hugely productive summer window for Atlético.

Diego Simeone is understood to want one more midfield option added to his squad, following the recent arrival of Conor Gallagher.

A whole host of names have been tipped as potential additions to the Rojiblancos ranks, including the likes of Matheus Nunes, and Gabri Veiga.

And, as alluded to above, on Thursday, a new profile has been added to the Atléti shortlist.

As per a report from Fabrizio Romano:

‘Atlético Madrid keep looking for new midfielder and Sofyan Amrabat is one of the fav options. Diego Simeone, pushing for Amrabat.’

Any deal for Moroccan international Amrabat, who spent last season plying his trade on loan with Manchester United, is considered a difficult one to come by for Atléti, owing mainly to Turkish heavyweights Fenerbahçe presenting a more enticing offer to Fiorentina.
