The brass at La Liga giants Atlético Madrid have hit something of a roadblock amid their ongoing efforts to renew the contracts of two players.
That’s according to transfer insider Matteo Moretto of Relevo, who points towards Rodrigo De Paul and Ángel Correa as the pair in question.
Argentine pair De Paul and Correa, as things stand, are due to see their respective terms in Spain’s capital come to a close next summer.
Negotiations with Agustín Jiménez, the agent for both players, have in turn long been ongoing.
If the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, though, then as much appear some way off reaching a positive conclusion.
As per Matteo Moretto:
‘As of today there doesn’t seem to be an agreement on the possibility of renewing and this would open up two scenarios:
either a sale in the summer or a possible goodbye for free in June 2026.’
Whilst the situation is considered to be reversible, as things stand, Atléti are therefore facing up to the real possibility of bidding farewell to a pair of altogether important players.
