Athletic Club are set to be without an important member of their midfield setup for the club’s next outing.
The player in question? Iñigo Ruiz de Galarreta.
Athletic marked their return to action a short time ago, making the trip to the Spanish capital for a La Liga showdown with title-chasing Atlético Madrid.
When all was said and done, the evening’s visitors were put to the sword by a goal to nil, owing to a 2nd-half strike on the part of the in-form Julián Alvarez.
As alluded to above, though, the eventual outcome was not the only blow for Ernesto Valverde’s side on Saturday.
In addition, Athletic saw midfield star Iñigo Ruiz de Galarreta pick up a suspension.
Ruiz de Galarreta was shown a yellow card for a challenge on Samuel Lino in the middle of the park at the Wanda Metropolitano.
His fifth of the La Liga campaign, the 31-year-old is therefore facing up to a one-game ban.
Ruiz de Galarreta will be unavailable for selection for Los Leones’ league meeting with RCD Mallorca next Sunday, March 9th.
