Athletic Club’s travelling squad for the club’s upcoming showdown with Atlético Madrid has this evening been unveiled.
And the list of stars features two crucial inclusions.
The players in question? Williams brothers, Nico and Iñaki.
Both Williams, of course, set pulses racing across the Athletic fanbase late last week, in being forced into respective premature departures from a La Liga meeting with Mallorca.
The attackers, in turn, were swiftly labelled as doubts to feature in Wednesday’s Copa del Rey semi-final first-leg meeting with the aforementioned Atlético.
It will therefore no doubt come as a major boost to all associated with Los Leones to hear that, on Tuesday, both have been named in Ernesto Valverde’s travelling squad bound for the Wanda Metropolitano.
After Iñaki tonight confirmed his readiness to feature from the off in Madrid, it remains to be seen whether Nico will follow suit.
Either way, though, Athletic’s hopes of returning to San Sebastián with a positive result ahead of the tie’s return leg later this month just got a whole lot higher.
