La Liga outfit Athletic Club have on Wednesday provided an update on the wellbeing of key attacker Álex Berenguer.
This comes after the 29-year-old was forced into a premature departure from the club’s latest outing.
En route to a 1-1 league stalemate with Real Valladolid over the weekend, Berenguer pulled up during the first-half, in evident discomfort.
The Spaniard managed to continue through the far side of the interval, but was ultimately hooked for Gorka Guruzeta just beyond the hour mark.
Amid what has proven a productive campaign to date for Berenguer, concern, in turn, was quickly sparked across the Athletic fanbase.
The same supporters will therefore no doubt be intrigued to hear of an update on their side’s versatile attacker coming to the fore on Wednesday.
As per a statement across the website and social media platforms of the Basque club:
‘Alex Berenguer was substituted in the 64th minute of the match against Real Valladolid after suffering an injury to the muscles of the right abdominal wall. He is still awaiting further development.’
