Sevilla defender Diego Carlos has agreed to join Premier League club Aston Villa, the Andalusian club announced on their website.
Sevilla have announced on their club website that they have reached an agreement in principle with Aston Villa for Carlos’ transfer for an undisclosed fee, reported to be around €31 million by Fabrizio Romano. Diego Carlos has also reportedly accepted the initial contract offer.
The Brazilian defender will now travel to England in the upcoming hours to complete his medical and finalise personal terms.
Carlos joined Sevilla from Nantes in the summer of 2019, and has helped the team to a top four finish in each of his three seasons at the club. He also won Sevilla’s sixth Europa League title in his debut campaign. This season, Carlos has played an important role in helping Sevilla maintain the best defensive record in La Liga, conceding just 30 goals across the 38 league games.
