Premier League giants Arsenal have this weekend been tipped to beat out competition from La Liga’s leading clubs, in the race for Málaga sensation Antoñito Cordero.
Antoñito, for his part, is an 18-year-old striker, who has long been considered one of Spanish football’s standout up-and-coming talents.
The starlet was the subject of intense interest on the part of Barcelona over the summer, with the Camp Nou hierarchy having gone as far as to table an offer for his services.
In the end, as much was rebuffed by Málaga, determined to secure what they felt was market value in return for their crown jewel.
Following the turn of the year, though, the battle for Antoñito’s signature looks set to ramp up once more.
This comes with the frontman having made clear that he has no intention of penning fresh terms, ahead of the expiration of his contract at La Rosaleda in the summer.
And, if the latest word stemming from the media this weekend is anything to go by, then a move away from his home country could be on the cards for the Spaniard.
As per Mundo Deportivo, citing Caught Offside:
‘Arsenal are currently the club with the best chance of securing the player’s services.’
Beyond the Gunners, the competition for Antoñito is fierce, amid alleged interest on the part of all of Barcelona, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City, Juventus and Aston Villa.
