Arsenal join hunt for Barcelona prodigy Mika Faye

Premier League giants Arsenal have joined a host of clubs from across the continent in the hunt for Barcelona talent Mikayil Faye.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who have on Monday provided a fresh insight into the situation.

Faye, for his part, has seen his name return to the forefront of the headlines in Catalunya’s capital in a major way over the course of the last week.

This comes after the gifted defender managed to find the net in back-to-back outings for Barca Atlètic.

The 19-year-old has long stood as an ever-present at the heart of boss Rafa Márquez’s backline, shining in 21 appearances across the season to date.

Having now also started to add goals to his game, though, the attentions of clubs throughout Europe have been piqued once more.

The Barcelona brass actually rejected an official proposal for Faye in January, when Ligue 1 outfit Lens offered to quadruple the 2.2 million fee paid out by the Blaugrana for his services in the summer.

The Senegalese’s many suitors, however, have evidently not been deterred.

As per the aforementioned MD, alongside Lens, all of Nice, Lille, Borussia Dortmund and, significantly, Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, have begun sniffing around Faye’s signature with a view to next season.

Barca, as things stand, are not actively seeking a sale, but with the emergence of Pau Cubarsí having blocked Faye’s path to first-team minutes for the time being, it is not out of the question that Deco and co. could look to cash in this summer.
