Antoine Griezmann to miss Atlético Madrid’s meeting with Mallorca

Atlético Madrid star Antoine Griezmann will play no part in the club’s next outing.

As much comes owing to developments in Atlético’s La Liga meeting with Athletic Club on Saturday night.

Diego Simeone’s troops are fresh off an important win, thanking goals on the part of all of Rodrigo De Paul, Ángel Correa and Unai Simón (OG) for an eventual 3-1 downing of the aforementioned Athletic.

The Rojiblancos, as a result, have taken a major step towards qualification for next season’s Champions League, now boasting a six-point advantage over the top-4 chasing pack in Spain’s top-flight.

On an otherwise positive night’s work, however, Atlético, as alluded to above, were also dealt a blow.

This came on the personnel front, upon Antoine Griezmann being shown a yellow card for a challenge in midfield with a full 94 minutes on the clock.

His 5th booking of the La Liga campaign, France international Griezmann, as a result, will now be forced to sit out a one-game suspension.

The 33-year-old will be unavailable to boss Simeone next Saturday, when Atléti make the trip to Son Moix, for a meeting with RCD Mallorca.
