Atlético Madrid star Antoine Griezmann has late on Thursday moved to reveal his appreciation for another leading member of Diego Simeone’s squad.
As much, of course, comes fresh off a positive night’s work for Atlético on the continent.
The Rojiblancos kicked their Champions League campaign into gear a short time ago, by way of a home meeting with Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig.
And, when all was said and done, it was the evening’s hosts who emerged on the right side of the result.
After Benjamin Šeško’s opener was cancelled out by Antoine Griezmann just shy of the half-hour mark, the scoreline remained deadlocked all the way through the 90th-minute.
Just when it looked as though a stalemate was on the cards, though, José María Giménez popped up at the back post, to nod home a last-gasp winner.
Speaking to the media after picking up the Man of the Match award on Thursday, the subject of his side’s performance was, in turn, put to the aforementioned Griezmann.
And, in his response, the France international was keen to highlight the ongoing efforts of one teammate as ‘essential’ to the club’s successes:
”I can see all the effort [Marcos] Llorente is putting in day by day. It’s pure hard work. Players like him are essential at Atleti.”
