Ansu Fati is looking forward to making his Brighton debut and has spoken to the club’s official website about making the move to the south of England.
The 20-year-old is on loan from Barcelona for a season without an option to buy. “First I spoke to Roberto [De Zerbi] and he told me that he has full confidence in me and told me what he thought of me,” he said.
“For me, that was a key factor in coming here. He was the main person who convinced me to come here with what he said, how he sees me as a player, and what I can improve. I think that was the key.”
Among his goals for this season, he added, “I want to have a great season, fight for the team, try to qualify for Europe like Brighton did last season, and if we can qualify for the Champions League, that would be even better.”
The Spain international will wear the number 31 shirt, the same number with which he made his first-team debut for Barça, and said he had watched matches involving his new club. “I really like the Premier League and Brighton was one of the clubs I followed the most. I knew it was a club that had grown over the last few seasons and had progressed very well, even qualifying for Europe this season”.
