La Liga giants Real Madrid will have a new captain for their meeting with Leganés this evening.
Carlo Ancelotti’s Real are of course primed to return to action in short order, kicking the club’s campaign back into gear in a derby meeting with Leganés.
The Blancos’ coaching staff have been forced to ring the changes for the clash, amid an injury crisis in Ancelotti’s ranks.
As much has culminated in all of Arda Güler, Dani Ceballos and Raúl Asencio stepping into starting roles, with Federico Valverde slotting into a new position at right-back, too.
And, in taking to the pitch this evening, the latter of these players will be afforded the honour of the captain’s armband.
Fede Valverde is actually 4th in the captaincy pecking order in Real Madrid’s squad, behind the trio of Luka Modrić, Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vázquez.
With the latter pair sidelined throguh injury, and Modrić on the bench, though, the Uruguayan has stepped up into a leader’s role against Leganés.
