Another Barcelona youth talent handed call-up to senior training

The long-running trend of Barcelona academy talents being afforded call-ups to the club’s first-team squad has on Thursday continued.

This comes amid confirmation that another highly-regarded starlet was this morning spotted in training alongside Hansi Flick’s squad.

Barcelona, of course, were back in action on Wednesday night, keeping alive the club’s perfect start to the La Liga campaign courtesy of a hard-fought downing of Getafe.

This morning, the Blaugrana’s star-studded squad, in turn, was put through a recovery session at The Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper.

And, as alluded to above, in an effort to make up the numbers following the long-term injury suffered by Marc-André ter Stegen, one new face was spotted playing his part.

As per a report from Barca insider Victor Navarro, the player in question was Iker Rodríguez.

Rodríguez, for his part, is a highly-regarded 16-year-old goalkeeper, who is currently plying his trade at U18 level in Catalunya’s capital.

On Thursday, though, he was afforded a priceless first-hand look at exactly what first-team football entails.
