Andrés Iniesta takes to social media to pass the Barcelona midfield baton to Pedri

The latest social media activity on the part of Barcelona icon Andrés Iniesta has piqued widespread attentions across the club’s fanbase on Thursday.

This comes with the Spaniard having seemingly endorsed youngster Pedri as his successor in the Barcelona midfield ranks.

Pedri’s name, of course, has positioned itself front and centre in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital over the last 24 hours.

This comes after the Spanish international proved the catalyst in Xavi’s troops turning things around, to put Paris Saint-Germain to the sword in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final tie between the clubs.

Introduced off the bench after a month on the sidelines through injury, Pedri wasted little time in making his presence firmly felt.

Within 60 seconds of stepping foot on the pitch, the 21-year-old broke the PSG backline courtesy of a sumptuous lofted pass, which was met with an equally stellar finish on the part of Raphinha.

Pedri’s influence proved pivotal across the remaining half hour at the Parc des Princes, too, as the starlet provided a reminder to any and all who may have forgotten just how important he is to Barcelona’s engine room setup.

And, as alluded to above, as much evidently did not go unnoticed on the part of a legendary ex-member of the midfield ranks at the Camp Nou.

Taking to his official Instagram account on Thursday, Andrés Iniesta reposted an image showcasing Pedri looking in a mirror, filled with photos of the now-39-year-old.

The baton has been well and truly passed…
