Andreas Christensen & Franck Kessié could leave Barcelona on free transfers

According to ESPN, Andreas Christensen and Franck Kessié could leave Barcelona on free transfers if they are not registered in time for the new La Liga season this weekend.

Barcelona’s season opener is against Rayo Vallecano at Camp Nou on Saturday and both players, who joined on free transfers, have not been registered with the Spanish league.

Christensen joined the Blaugrana after a decade at Chelsea, while Kessié moved from Serie A champions AC Milan.

If they are not registered prior to the fixture against Rayo, they could choose to execute a clause that allows them to leave Camp Nou for free.

The report also states that Christensen and Kessié’s situations are different from Barcelona’s other new signings, given they joined the club for free and they would therefore be entitled to leave for free before the transfer window closes.

New signings Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha and Jules Koundé have yet to be inscribed with La Liga, while the contract renewals signed by Ousmane Dembélé and Sergi Roberto have not been registered either, leaving manager Xavi Hernández with a squad selection headache going into the weekend.
