Almería boss Garitano provides Luka Romero update after scary head injury in Celta defeat

Almería head coach Gaizka Garitano was tonight drawn on the wellbeing of Luka Romero.

As much comes after the AC Milan loanee was forced into a premature departure from the club’s La Liga meeting with Celta Vigo, owing to a frightening injury.

En route to an eventual 1-0 defeat for Almería, Romero was hooked on the stroke of the interval.

This came after the talented youngster was involved in an unfortunate collision, which saw him kicked in the face, studs first, by teammate Marc Pubill.

Romero was subsequently loaded onto a stretcher, before being carried down the tunnel amid concerning scenes.

Speaking to the media post-match, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of the Argentine youth international’s situation was put to the aforementioned Gaizka Garitano.

And Almería’s boss went on to admit that, though as much has not yet been confirmed, the early concern in the Indálicos camp is that Romero may have suffered a broken jaw.

“It’s his jaw, I don’t know if it’s broken,” Garitano began, as cited by Marca. “Let’s see how he feels, he’s gone to the hospital and I hope he has as little as possible.”
