Álex Moreno has decided to stay at Real Betis despite interest from Premier League club Nottingham Forest.
The attacking left-back wrote on social media on Monday, revealing his decision to stay with Betis, to the delight of supporters of the club.
Nottingham Forest had reportedly agreed a fee of around £9m with Betis for Moreno, who will now spend the 2022-23 campaign working under Manuel Pellegrini.
The full-back says that the decision is a joint one with Real Betis and that he prefers to stay because of “the affection of the fans”, “the project” and “the trust” that has been “shown to him from all levels of the club”.
By staying at the Benito Villamrín, he has rejected a significant salary increase with Nottingham Forest, the newly-promoted club that were willing to triple the Catalan player’s wages, according to Seville outlet Estadio Deportivo.
Moreno has a deal with the Copa del Rey champions until the summer of 2025.
